Back to acrylics today. I'm enjoying working with oils, but sometimes it just feels good to go "home" - to return to a comfort zone. This is one of my little "Button Paintings" - done on an 8" x 10" gallery-wrapped convexo canvas. One of my collectors said these canvases resemble a keyboard button - hence the name. I allow myself to really have fun with these little jewels! This is painted with flat and 2-dimensional acrylic paint in a sort of "fusion style" - combining my love of Mexican colors (a little toned down) with a wispiness of Oriental design. It's ready to hang. Check out yessy.com/ctrue for purchasing information.
This weekend we're exploring the visual arts around Kansas City. Tonight - a visit to First Friday at Crossroads Art District in KCMO (that's the local lingo for Kansas City, Mo). First Fridays of every month are a celebration of visual arts in this restored old part of KC. It sounds like a pretty "jiving" place - storms and tornado warnings and generally exhaustion from moving have kept us away since we landed here in February. If the weather holds out (it's starting to rain??), we'll head that way. Tomorrow we're heading to Excelsior Springs, Mo for the Missouri Wine, Art and Bluegrass Festival. Then we'll head to the Prairie Village Art Festival - either on our way home Saturday or on Sunday. And we're missing so many other things this weekend!! We're going just to enjoy - but also to check out events where we might want to show our art. Sometime we need to work in the yard, too - plant some flowers for painting inspirations and "just because."
I hope this weekend is beautiful and fun and relaxing for all of you!

Love those colors together....I like those button paintings too...You all have fun in MO....
