Garden Cottage

11" X 14" oil on canvas board - ready to frame

Another day in the garden! Well - my imaginary gardens. My husband is the one who's sweating in our own yard, getting things ready for visitors this weekend. And getting areas ready for me to put in some "real" flowers. Today I did another oil painting with pallette knife. Fun!!! Can't you just imagine walking out your cottage door and heading to this beautiful little pond. This kind of painting is stretching my patience a little - I really like to do funky type art but I'm enjoying painting a different style and trying new techniques. But - tomorrow I may have to return to my comfortable funky zone. And use some red. I have lots of red paint on my pallette. That reminds me of an interview with Georgie O'Keeffe. She was asked why she used red in a particular painting and I'm sure the interviewer was expecting some deep insight into her creative psyche. Her answer - "I just felt like using red." Don't ya love it!! Sometimes artists just want to use some particular color - maybe because they have a lot of it on their pallette. Life doesn't always have to be "deep."
Have a great day and enjoy some red in your life!

Hope Linda's pond here will be this attractive when done. It's just been started, though should be done within a couple of weeks.

I love it! Lots of detail and the vibrant colors are "spiffy". I do wish I had that pond in my back yard.
