Work in progress! (The post for this day has been modified - the image above is the final painting.) Today was a busy day. This morning was the last in a series of oil paintings classes at Artichokes - taught by Ada Koch. This is my first class in a long time and my first in Kansas - I thoroughly enjoyed it. I met some new artists, Ada is very knowledgable and encouraging and patient, and Artichokes is a special place. "I'll be back." It was a treat to be the student and to emerse myself in the painting process and to learn about a "new" medium - oils. The above painting isn't quite finished but I decided to post it so I can keep my commitment to a "~ daily post." Tomorrow morning I'll work on the painting and will replace this image when I feel like it's completed. Sometimes it's good to put a painting aside for a while and think about it. You can get improvement ideas from the funniest places - often just glancing at it from a different angle, or seeing it squished down into a tiny little photo on the computer screen.
We had our house guests this weekend and picked up the conversation like all those years hadn't passed. The big reminder was how much their "children" had grown! Great visit with very dear friends. I felt a little guilty leaving this morning for class - but they were all asleep (on vacation!) so that helped. We had a nice visit over lunch - then Mike and I took 2 cats for their first visit to the Vet in Kansas. A good thing about a "daily art" commitment is it makes you make your art a high priority. It's so easy to let "life" get in the way of that focus.
I'm sitting in our home office that's much cleaner than Friday - before the push to get ready for company. Life sometimes gives you wonderful little clusters of "treats" - good memories, a clean house, cats being cared for and even progress on the art scene. What an adventure!!
Have a beautiful day!

I love your Tuscan Hillside! Of course you know how I love this look. But I especially like the brillant colors. It looks like someplace you just want to go visit.
Take care, Joyce

We may just have to go visit there someday! Thanks, Joyce. Another friend said it reminded her of the time when she was there. Great compliments.
