This is another in a series of "Funky Little Flowers."  I actually painted this when I painted "Funky Little Blues" - anticipating that I wouldn't have time to paint today but I could still have a piece of art to post.  This fun little painting is done with flat acrylic paint and accentuated with 3-dimensional acrylic paint for that sort of "fusion" look with an Oriental twist.  I like the "painting outside of the box" concept and the freedom with the wispy edges and squirly little 3-d line work.  I hope you do, too. 

Today is my husband's birthday!  I knew that painting wouldn't be top on my list today.  We hosted a big gathering of family and friends yesterday for Father's Day - we both cooked and stayed busy with other things.  So, we had planned that today would be very kick-back and wouldn't included dishes to wash!  We started with breakfast out.   We love this little local restaurant, and we've been here long enough to have return visits to some places!  Great food.  Tonight our daughter's family will be here - she's playing up the fact that her Dad is here and we both appreciate that very much.

I have to admit that when Kristi and her family left yesterday, I was hit with this surreal feeling - like, "wow, we're here in Kansas and saying "goodnight" to family just like that's normal."  The move all happened so fast - settling in has been overwhelming and drawn out - maybe we're calming down enough for this all to soak in.  Still love it - just a major change!

Tomorrow will be a new painting.  You gotta go with the flow in life and really enjoy important days!  And it helps to plan ahead so you can do that.
