I should call this "work in progress" because it's not done.  In fact, this was a demo that I did for a class several months ago in Bakersfield and I never quite finished it.  It's sitting in a pile of "stuff" - every time I flip through and find it, I like it even more!  So I pulled it out and posted it "as is" and will work on it (just a little!) and post it again tomorrow - probably (see below).  Sometimes my favorite pieces are those done quickly and with abandon.  And I just love those wild and crazy colors of Mexico.  Check out the orange and pink together and how they sort of "zing" and are in-your-face Mexico!!   I remember the demo.  We were working on "black line" paintings, simplification, movement, bold colors, and the composition just evolved as we painted.  I like the little tiny flower hanging in there by the big bold plant and soaking up that hot South-of-the-Border sunshine.

Sorry about no posting yesterday.  I was so proud of myself for planning ahead for a "vacation day" on my hubby's birthday.  Now I know to plan for "sick days" too.  I had a little bout with a stomach bug.  It's very hard to get up and be creative when you just don't want to move.  Luckily these things don't last long.  Today's the soup day - tomorrow will be just fine.  So my plan (!) is to do a new painting for tomorrow and to work on this Mexican painting just a tad.  One of the hardest things in painting is to know when to stop.  I don't want to ruin the movement and fun!  You may be the judge if any improvements were made or if I should have just stopped.

In the meantime - have a beautiful, sunshiny day!
