Today I went to one of my favorite places - the Paso Robles wine country.  Okay - I didn't really go there.  But that's a fun thing about painting - you can pretend to be anyplace you want!  We've been to the Paso Robles wine country enough that it almost feels like home.  This was painted from a photo on the west side of Highway 101.  Beautiful country!

A good thing about a blog is you can explore different painting styles and techniques and post them without trying to put together a cohesive body of work.  That "cohesive body of work" is a big thing in the art world, especially when you're preparing for a show of your art.  But most artists like to paint lots of different things and at least a few different styles.  Here's an interesting quote by Picasso:  "God is really only another artist. He invented the giraffe, the elephant and the cat. He has no real style, He just goes on trying other things."  (Most of us wouldn't put oursevles in the same category as God - but this was Picasso!)  Anyway - I do like painting in different styles and trying new things.  This move to Kansas has given me time to explore - and I'm enjoying that.  On the website that I'm building, I'm putting paintings together into cohesive groups and I saw that I need more landscapes.  So you might see landscapes in the next few days.  Some might have to funky landscapes!  You know - same subject, different style.

So here's a contrast in material and styles - the finished painting from yesterday is shown below.  I didn't do much except clean up the black line work and sign it.  I decided not to mess with the fun!!  You can look back at yesterday's posting to compare the "original" to the "fine-tuned final version."  Let me know what you think.  Or - just enjoy.

Have a very beautiful evening!!
