This is one of several new originals that are actually hanging in my home.  What a concept!  Until we moved to Kansas City, I had a separate studio and gallery space where all of my art "lived."  Sometimes one of my new paintings found a new home before I got to enjoy it.  That was a good thing - keeps the artist in new supplies and "keeps the lights on."  But it's sort of nice to see how the art looks in a real home - ours!  When I'm ready for a show or when this little piece finds a new home some other way, I can find a new painting to fill the spot.  In the meantime, it's fun to see my own art on my own walls.

I took a workshop from William Hook - a wonderful acrylic painter and great teacher.  Someone asked him if he had any of his own art hanging in his home.  I loved his answer - he said he has the best collection of bad William Hook art.  (It's hard for me to imagine William Hook doing a bad painting.)   I've decided that art has it's own Darwin theory of natural selection.  I do have a collection of "Claudia True yuk" art - some of it I look at and think "what was I thinking?" - especially some that I paid to have framed.  Oh well - tastes do change with time and each was a learning experience.  In my new life here in Kansas, I'm learning the benefits of gesso - I'm painting over lots of old "yuk" paintings with gesso and the canvases are finding a new face.  I do love some of my older paintings that I still have.  Those just haven't found the right new home yet - and I'm enjoying lots of them in this new setting, too.

I'm off to paint with some new painting friends today - I hope.  This will be another step in meeting local artists and exploring the local art scene.  Will let you know what happens tomorrow.

Have a beautiful day!
