Last Tuesday I painted with a new group (to me) that meets on Tuesdays at the "farm" of Carol and Bob McCall. Both are great painters! Carol teaches in oils and this is what I did at my first session. We painted outside and I chose to do a group of coneflowers. We just planted some in our front yard, so they feel sort of special to me right now. I never had them in Bakersfield. Carol has a great oil painting technique that she shares. Since oils are still fairly new for me, I'm very eager to learn from experienced painters and to pick their brain on how to handle this medium. Carol was very generous with her thoughts and guiance, yet still let me "do my own thing." I like her technique - loose, expressionistic, captures the essence without too much details - and lots of brush strokes which are intriguing to me right now. I'll be pushing this style a bit and see what I can do with it. Next week I may try a landscape since the views are so beautiful at their property. Yes - Kansas has some beautiful places. Surprise!!
Have a beautiful day.

Nice brushwork, color contrasts and depth evident in this piece, Claudia. I like it! I'm also impressed to see you sticking with the oils...
