Lemons & Purple Flowers

Lemons are one of my favorite treats!!  I've always loved lemons - the color, the smell, the super sour and yummy taste!  I started painting lemons early in my painting days and they continue to be really fun for me to capture on canvas.  You always hear - paint what you know!  The hardest thing for me to leave in our house in Bakersfield was our huge lemon tree - with really, really huge lemons!!  You could make a whole pitcher of lemonade with one just one of those little jewels.  It kills me to have to buy lemons.  It's just not the same as picking one from your very own tree.  Oh well - good memories!

Today we had a big thunderstorm with heavy rain.  Luckily we missed most of the hail.  One way you know you're in Kansas - versus California - we now have a storm radio!!  It was making lots of warning noises for a short time.  Gets your attention.  I'm not complaining - we've had it good compared to many folks not far from here.  Just different for us.  Glad our little tomato plants are in the ground.  At this rate, we might have home grown tomatos by September.  They're really good with a dash of lemon juice - even if it's from the store.

Have a beautiful day!

Wow, Sue - you have a great memory!!   Yes - I put lemon juice on  Fritos, or at least I used to - probably my favorite snack.  Of course, Fritos have a gazillion calories and my teeth are showing the wear from "many decades" of eating raw lemons.   I keep meaning to write you - we were okay with the Kansas floods.  How about you on the Texas coast?  This has been quite a year weather-wise.  Hope you're doing fine.

I LOVE the bright yellow for the lemons .....a vivid stillife...the shades of lilac and green give the lemons the "zest" they need.
