Two Sunflowers

This is my painting for today. I'm not totally satisfied with it yet - I need to let it set and think about it overnight. Some days you're really in the mood to paint - others it's more a struggle. I couldn't decide what to paint today and my husband said "paint sunflowers - we're in sunflower country." I've painted lots of sunflowers - after my stepdaughter asked me to do one many years ago. She was a student at Baker University in Kansas so it was a special thing for her. I thought - everybody paints sunflowers! How can I do them differently? My sunflower paintings have been pretty popular. I just need to give this particular one a little thought and will probably work on it more tomorrow.
Lots going on here. I have two very special friends from college who will be here for business reasons - both at the same time! - and we're getting together Friday night. One thing that's great about Kansas City - so many people come through here! Who knew????? That's incentive to unpack a few more boxes and continue in this process of settling in.
