Funky Zinnias I

Today's painting is a funky version of yesterday's "traditional" zinnias.  So I guess I'm doing a zinnia series!  And I have another one for tomorrow.  My husband said "more flowers?"  I said - yup!  I just love to paint flowers, especially this funky style.

Oh what a wonderful discovery - a great art supply store is near us, and they're having a huge sale.  That's an artist's dream - and nightmare!!  So many temptations.  I stocked up on oil paints, filled in some "holes" in my acrylic paint supply and bought a few canvases.  I have my eye on a great easel but I have to find homes for more of my art before that happens.  The workers there are very friendly and knowledgeable - mainly artists I think.   My husband bought some sculpting tools - he started a new sculpture class at the Kansas City Art Institute yesterday - casting with aluminum.   Now this is my kind of shopping!

I'm heading to the McCall farm to paint today.  It's "warm"!!  Just hope there's a breeze.  This is a great chance to expand my developing oil painting skills and to hang out with some local artists.  You may see what I learn today.

Have a beautiful evening!

Claudia, this is the style I know and love...and the colors too. I love seeing the new selections as well.

Thanks, Sharon - and especially thanks for checking my blog and your support of my art!  I love painting this style - but I'm also enjoying experimenting with a more "sophisticated" style with the oil paintings.  Tuesday nights I'm painting with Carol McCall - she and her husband are both great oil painters.  Carol is sharing a style that seems to work well with my florals.  I'll write more about it tomorrow when I post the art I did last night.  I doubt that I'll ever give up this funky approach that you like - it's too much fun!
