I guess I'm doing a coneflower series!  Yesterday at the McCall farm, these flowers looked so pretty with the low sun shining on them.  The first day I painted there, I did a coneflower painting.  It's fun to compare this one to the first (see July 5, 2007).  What's interesting to me is the "perkiness" of the petals - the painting done in early July has the petals almost horizontal, and petals painted yesterday are pointed down more than in the earlier art.  That's the natural progression - or aging - of the flowers themselves.  It shows that painting or drawing or art is so much about observation.  This was an interesting discovery to me when I compared the two!

I hope you enjoy another version of conflowers - and that you have a beautiful evening!

I like this one a lot! I had a rough day today and this made me smile. It's the middle of the night and your coneflowers--"in their natural progression"--spoke to me. They look very real and your observation is so true...

I am behind on email...write you soon.
