Today's oil painting has a much softer look than some of my previous ones - still experimenting!! I like this one. And it's been a challenge. I started this yesterday at the McCall farm. Again, we went out on a flat bed trailer into the freshly cut hay fields (no sneezing today!) and we painted at sunset. We set up on a high spot and looked out over fields in all directions. My painting eventually included a pond, even though I was actually looking out across a road instead of any water. I put some blue in the "pond" and it took on a life of its own. Love that artistic license!! The foreground is totally different today than yesterday too. I scraped off some of the oil paint today and revised it until I liked the results. Scraping is good in oils - so different than acrylics. I actually saw some beautiful pinks and yellows across the road and then I splashed those colors around in other parts of the canvas. Hope you like it.
Weather here has been amazingly nice! Sort of "chamber of commerce" time of year. I understand the best is yet to come - all the Fall colors. So many trees here - can't wait for the full regalia!!!
Until then, think beautiful thoughts and have a great evening!
Claudia,
I can't wait to see what the Fall colors do for your paintings. This should be good since I don't remember Fall having any colors in Bakersfield except for green and brown. Sort of that way here. Currently we are experiencing the color of water!!!!!!!

I hear you about water! You guys have had WAY too much! My first real Fall color experience was my first year at Penn State - way back when. I fell in love with Fall and look forward to even a taste of it again after Bakersfield.
Stay dry!
