I'm back after a week of "vacation." Life just got interesting. First, my aunt lost her long battle with cancer. The world lost a special person and I was fortunate to have had her in my little world. So many wonderful memories! And she was a model of how to deal with adversity. Five surgeries for cancer was more than enough. I believe she truly felt she had been given some extra time and she made the most of every day that she could. I also had lots of other distractions so painting was put on the back burner for a while. Some days or weeks are just like that.
This "re-entry" piece is a simple still life - just apples in a bowl. I like to see how to make even the simplest compositions interesting with color and brush strokes - or texture created with thick paint applied with a pallette knife. I think the simplest things are often the most beautiful.
Life is a special gift. Count your blessings and make your life beautiful!
