What an interesting and challenging painting day!  First - I have to tell you that the background color in this painting is really purple.  Yes - purple!!  Just when I think I'm getting pretty good at photographing (at least for the blog), the seasons change!  When you rely on natural light that makes a big difference!  I'm learning very empirically all this sunlight stuff and its effects on what the camera sees.  Part of the changing seasons is that it gets dark much earlier and it was approaching dark when I finished today.  Yikes!  I had to take this photo fast.  I really wanted a purple background while painting, and worked with getting it "just right."  Looking through the viewfinder, I knew that the camera just wasn't going for purple.  But - I also knew I couldn't do anything about it.  So - I'll try tomorrow to revise this shot.  For now, just think purple and pretend!

This painting also took on a life of its own.  The flowers started out as pink.  Cute - but boring.  So I added orange to it and it started to come alive.  There's something about pink and purple paint together to give some real pizazz!  You don't blend them together, but you load up the brush with both colors and spread them on the canvas, letting both colors stand on their own and do a little dance with the eyes.  Much better than plain old pink.  And very "Mexico-ish."  Also, I had more leaves but thought that was too busy.  So I went with the changing seasons and let some leaves fall off, just like outside!  Ah, the magic of the paint brush.  (I wish I could just paint away all those leaves outside . . . .)

Some days are just a little more challenging than others.  But all are beautiful!  Have a beautiful evening.
