Two "biggies" in todays posting: (1) the painting (of course) and (2) my announcement of a 2009 calendar!! So - please read!
First - Mark your calendars for - A CALENDAR!!!!! "Simply Divine in 2009' (or something like that). This is a joint effort by me and my design guru Holly Bikakis - featuring art of food by me, and graphics by Holly. It will be - simply divine! We'll also have recipes and beverage pairings. How cool is that. Should be available ~ mid October - will keep you posted. Great idea for Christmas and other gifts. I'm SOOOO excited!
Okay - today's painting will be included in the calendar. I think the heat of summer is totally worth it so you can get yummy tomatoes and basil - and good garlic of course. We went to a garlic festival in Gilroy, Ca - the "garlic capital of the world" - and it was just incredible fun. And we saw so many ways to cook with garlic. I have to admit the garlic ice cream was a bit of a stretch, but other stuff was oh so good. You could smell the garlic when you got close to town. I bought a cookbook and a quote in it by Mark Twain said "Gilroy is the only place where you can marinate a steak by hanging it out the window." If you love garlic, you gotta love that! I have tomato and basil growing in my garden and I'm already enjoying all these wonderful taste treats together. Just add a little olive oil and salt - and lemon of course - and you're in summer heaven!
Next to painting, my 2nd passion is cooking. This calendar is so fun to put together. Holly is the most amazing graphic artist I've ever known, and her husband will add some of his cooking ideas in here, too. He's Greek - gotta have some good Greek recipes! Bet he'll have some garlic in there . . . .
Right now I'm feeling like life is beautiful! And pretty tasty, too!!
