Terri the teacher and artist!

This beautiful Kern River painting was done by Terri Murry - the very serious lady in the green t-shirt. I love the painting and this photo of Terri. She actually started this piece in an earlier session on the river and she brought it in to finish with me. It didn't need much tweaking - I think her composition is great and I love the colors, of course. Terri teaches high school art - last year at Bakersfield H.S. and next year at Frontier H.S. I love this glimpse of her in a pensive state. You can see she's really studying and thinking and it looks very "teacherly." Terri is indeed serious about her art and it shows. Later I'll share a photo of her with a huge smile, but for some reason I wanted to share this serious side. The other gal in this photo is Terri's daughter. How wonderful to share this love of art with her daughter AND her mother - Joyce Paissano-Chapman. We've already seen Joyce and her work (remember the paint on her cute face?). Terri also teaches art to children in her home during the summers. She had been a teachers aid for many years and recently went back to school to get her teaching credentials. That's a pretty gutsy move when you still have kids at home and you work full time. Maybe that's why I wanted to share the serious side. Terri hasn't been afraid to get out there and take her life to another level. I know her Mom's proud of her little gal!!
The Missouri Wine and Art festival was great! I'll write more about it when I have some photos to post. I'll probably do that event again next year. It's not a huge art venue, but it was a great way to spend a day! And I sold some art, too. Can't beat that!!
Summer has kicked in here but tomatoes are ripening and other summer treats make me understand that summer is beautiful - in its own way. Hope you're enjoying it!
