Cindy Stiles and her paintings

I promised myself today that I'd post another of my student's paintings - from the May workshop in Bakersfield, Ca. Here's a great budding artist - Cindy Stiles - and her paintings. Cindy and her sister took lessons from me several years ago as beginners. They've both taken off in their art world - as have many of my students. Cindy definitely has found a passion in painting. She's active in the local art scene and is is making a name for herself and her beautiful paintings, and she deserves this recognition. If doing well in something requires dedication, focus and passion, then Cindy's on the track to do REALLY well! Cindy paints much more detailed than I do. Look at the beautiful shadows in her painting, and the great treatment of the vase. Of course the flowers really work! I just love it when students go off on their own style and their own approach to the paints and canvases. See that smile on Cindy's face? She really is happy with art in her life - and it shows on her face and in her beautiful creations!
Okay - I've been focused lately on paintings of food for our 2009 calendar. It's shaping up!!! Speaking of shaping up - it's hard to look at so many photos of food and to be obsessed with food while I'm trying to lose weight and get this bod in shape. Today I did a painting of a pizza margherita! Man - looking at photos of pizza all day makes you hungry. BUT - this is for a good cause! I think you'll love the calendar - food, recipes, little insights into food and festivals, etc. Holly Bikakis is the graphic guru on this project - a joint effort by Holly and me. I just LOVE working with Holly - I know things will look great when she's added her magic touch! "Stay tuned . . . ."
I hope your day is as beautiful as these flowers that Cindy created. Enjoy!
