Linda Limi's introduction to painting

Linda Limi - a "first time painter" and the last (but not least!) of my students at the May 2008 Bakersfield workshop.  Linda was so fun and she just jumped right in with the painting, even though she hadn't done any acrylic painting before.  I think she's done lots of "crafts" in the past, but not working with paints and paper/canvas.  And - I think she surprised herself!  The first photo is on our first day - not sure if she's doing the ol' artist squint to check out the painting, or if she's thinking "yuk?"  Hopefully it's the first!  When you're just starting, you so often think your art isn't very good.  But that wasn't the case with Linda's paintings.  She worked very hard on this piece - spent most of the afternoon on it.  That's just fine.  Art isn't about speed, but about the process and what you have when you decide you're finished.  So many of my early paintings didn't measure up to this one - at all!!!!!  Congrats, Linda.  The 2nd photo shows her starting her pallette knife painting on day 2.  Looks like she was having fun - I hope so.

Linda made a grand entrance at the workshop, or at least she left a grand trail . . . .  She drove her truck and had her supplies in the back - and her roll of paper towels started unrolling all over Alfred Harrell Highway!  She'll remember that story - and hopefully this workshop.  Linda and Tracy and Tobey are all pals and I suspect they'll have many fun times painting together.

Linda - you did some beautiful paintings!  Hope you have discovered a new hobby to give you lots of pleasure in the future.
