This painting is the first you see in our 2009 Calendar - January, 2009. I think it sets the mood for the entire year - let's celebrate, be happy, be healthy - and prosper! Woo Hoo!!! You also get a recipe for the "Champagne a la Cabo" cocktail, and an easy appetizer to go with it. Oh, my . . .
Holly Bikakis and I have been working on this for several months and it's FINALLY almost done. Whew! You all know the excitement when a major project is nearing the end. Excitement - exhaustion - a sense of accomplishment - and pride. That's the way we're feeling now. I did 13 paintings for the calendar - you know, a Baker's Dozen - it includes Jan 2010 as a little extra treat. Holly has done an amazing job with the calendar layout, and she and her Greek hubby who loves to cook provided many of the recipes. Each month has a recipe to go with the painting - or inspired by the painting - or the painting was inspired by the recipe . . . . . ANYWAY - they're supposed to go together and I think it's happening. How fun!!!
Want to see a little more about the calendar? Click here - "The Art of Food 2009"- by Claudia True and Holly Bikakis. We're in the final stages of fine-tuning. Hope to send to the printers in a few days. More info will follow.
The last few weeks have been a blur because of this project and 2 more. Isn't it amazing how things come in clusters???? One project was getting ready for the opening at ARTichokes last Friday. It was a huge success - as always. I was thrilled to have family and friends there to support me. The show will be open through October if you want to check it out. AND - there's another big project that I can't tell you about yet - don't want to jinx it - just wish me luck.
It's way past dinner time and I need to head downstairs and make that happen. Today was a beautiful day here - I hope yours was beautiful, too and that you have a MOST beautiful and special week!
p.s. I have to give credit to my photographer guru - Don Mason - for his infinite patience with my photography skills, his training to improve it (!) and his help with getting the images just right. I had no idea how much was involved in all of this before I got started. With all I've learned from him, I want to go back and re-do all the photos in my blog/website that are SO awful. But it won't happen - part of the learning curve. People like Don and Holly are a real joy to work with - little special gifts in my life. Thanks to both of you, Don and Holly!

Love the calendar and your artichoke paintings! That is so exciting for you Claudia! I will order a couple calendars for sure! Great work!
