Great Horned Owl

Well - these Great Horned Owls wouldn't win any competition for being nice!   I did some research on them because they live in the Lake Wyandotte area - the location of the environmental library where I'll have my show (see earlier posts).  These are not very nice creatures!  It was a little "gorey" reading about their eating habits.  But I guess all of nature's little critters have to eat.  There was an interesting article in the paper yesterday that sounded like our own back yard.  The writer was describing all the birds he enjoys, and then shared a story about how he saved a squirrel from being dinner for a hawk.  You know these owls will find their food and that keeps them going.  I'm not going to dwell on that.  I'll just admire this colorful little guy, sitting out in the woods and enjoying a beautiful moonlight-lit evening!

I hope you have a beautiful evening, too!
