Flowers, Feathers, Fossils and More!

This is my nature exhibit at the Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Schlagle library in Kansas City, Ks. The show is titled "Flowers, Feathers, Fossils and More" Sorry about the lighting "zapping" my paintings! Actually the lighting is good for the show, but not for photographing it. But you get the idea and you can see images of most of the paintings in earlier blog postings.
This show was SO fun to put together. I got to do some research on birds, flowers and fossils in Kansas. Some paintings are fairly representational - especially the birds. The other extreme is the very loose approach to painting flowers. I've painted a trillion flowers (not really, but we're hearing that word a lot . . .) and bird paintings are new to me, so I approached them differently. The frog painting was strictly for fun!!! This library focuses on environmental education for kids and the frog was painted for the young guys and gals. Besides, I just like to do fun paintings!!! Freddy the Funny Frog was a good "release" after trying to really draw and paint the birds "correctly."
If you want to see the paintings better, please scroll down the blog and check them out. If you really want a good look, head on over to the library!!! It's in a beautiful setting and I'm proud to have my art hanging there.
